He’s our President. Get over it.

Dear lunatic fringe.  I don’t care who you voted for. Barack Obama is the President of the United States.  This is not a political rant. This is a frantic appeal to the people who are complaining because the President of the United States is going to be talking to students via a TV speech.

When I was in second grade, everyone in the school gathered in the cafeteria to watch the space shuttle blast off. Before the launch, President Reagan spoke.  I don’t remember parents keeping kids out of school for that.

I thought we teach children to respect the democratic process, to respect the fact that we as a people elect our representatives and most of all respect THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.

What set me off? This article from The NY Times.

Sometimes you win. Sometimes you lose, and sometimes…it rains.

  1. Didn’t vote for President Obama and have disagreed with most of what he’s proposed so far (except when it comes to education).

But you are absolutely dead right here and thanks for saying it.
