I’ve written before how I spent many of my formative years growing up in Chico. It was a great place to grow up, and is now a great place for people starting companies. There are several interesting companies that have started there in the last few years.
I’m going to be heading up tomorrow to serve as a judge for Venture Island. Think of it like an ongoing set of tests for startups, with a prize at the end. It’s the North State’s own reality series (only it’s not on TV) and it’s really real (unlike American Idol).
If you don’t think Chico is a great place to learn how to start a company, AskaNinja, that’s where he started. And if you’re going to be in Chico tomorrow, come check out Venture Island at 4 pm at the Enloe Conference Center.
