Sometimes this stuff just writes itself. According the Sacramento Business Journal there’s a conference scheduled for this Thursday at UC Davis to discuss the “growing economic and geographical closeness of the Bay Area and Sacramento region.” That in and of itself is a little funny because I’m not sure how geographically we could be getting closer, but the best part of the conference, the name:
Sacramento has a serious inferiority complex. I think we need to stop thinking of the area as “halfway from the Bay Area to Tahoe,” and start embracing the true nature of our quality of life, our mid-American values, and our connection to the rest of the country, while still retaining our roots.
I propose from now on, we refer to the area as Sacrakansas!
