Darren Barefoot and Capulet Communications have some serious game

Think you’ve got chops and creative ideas in helping get the word out about your clients? You’ve got nothing on the team at Capulet Communications. How about individually tailored videos posted on YouTube, check one out here, for each blogger you are trying to reach?

How about a comic created for each pitch using photos posted on Flickr of the person you are trying to reach?

Here’s one:

I learned about this from a posting here from Jordan Behan’s outstanding “Tell Ten Friends.”

Darren, you are raising the bar. You are innovating. Stay hungry and keep doing it.

  1. not sure. it’s innovative, yes. but at same time, probably more time consuming than working with someone who already has the relationship or savvy in knowing how to nail the briefing with a call, or email. like the comic idea, but not sure the ROI is worth the spend. my two cents.

  2. Anonymous: I already do have a relationship with all the bloggers I pitched this way. I wouldn’t try this when pitching bloggers who I’d never interacted with before.

And I think you over-estimate the time involved here–I used a silly Apple app to build them. It took me less than half-an-hour to put each comic together, and I got commitments to review from more than 80% of the people I contacted. Is getting 20 reviews worth a day’s work? It sure is for me.
