"i" is becoming like ‘cold dead fish’

There used to be a saying in Silicon Valley in reference to Hewlett-Packard‘s lack of skill in marketing its products, “If HP had invented sushi, they would have called it cold, dead fish.”

This was a reference to their lack of perceived lack of imagination for marketing and their need to be very literal. While Google isn’t exactly being as literal as HP here, they are showing about as much as imagination in marketing as HP did in the 70’s and 80’s. To paraphrase Principal Vernon from The Breakfast Club, “I expected more from a varsity letterman.”
